How to pick the right music school?
We understand that it can be overwhelming to pick the right music school, so here are some important things we suggest you look for when selecting a music school:
First of all, make sure to check instructors' backgrounds and their teaching experiences at the music school you are considering. It makes a huge difference to studying with someone who is an experienced teacher with years of formal training versus someone who likes music and knows how to play simple songs.
- Secondly, you should know who will be teaching and if they can teach consistently. Each student should not be assigned to different teachers more than 2-3 times a semester unless necessary. It is very important for students to learn music with a systematic teaching method in order to achieve the best results.
- Lastly, you should check what books your children use and if they know what their teacher wants them to practice. I like to compare music to sports because you always need consistent practice in order to see progress. We suggest our students practice at least 3 days each week.
